Silk is a very luxurious material with a special touch. Its history stretches back into the mists of time as described among other in stories about the famous “silk route".

The finished fabric has a sheen and glow quite unlike that of any other fiber and when completed with an original hand-painted design, the result is unique. The white silk is stretched tightly onto a frame. The lines are created by "gutta" (a rubber like substance), then "water colored" with the silk dyes. Once dried, the silk is placed into a large steamer for several hours until the dyes are set.

Silk painting as a hand-made work of art offers a limitless blending and wealth of colors. No compositions are ever alike, however best one tries. All silk compositions at Atelier Golnaz are designed, hand-painted and made by Golnaz.
